Organizing for Action rally, support of new immigration legislation

TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now)- Happening today,
supporters of immigration reform will be sending a message to Arizona's
senators to keep pushing forward.

Many are set to gather
right outside of Senator Jeff Flake's office today to show support for the
immigration legislation he helped draft.

The group, ‘Organizing for
Action', says the legislation is a victory for those fighting to fix the
immigration system.

Organizing for Action will
also be holding the rally today, urging Washington to pass legislation that
includes a path to citizenship for the country's 11 million undocumented
immigrants.

The ‘Gang of 8', the
bipartisan group of Senators who crafted the legislation, believes the bill
will pass the Senate.

TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now)- An attempt to get heroin past Border Patrol agents failed when the authorities got a closer look at the waistlines.

Two 17-year-olds and one adult are under arrest after agents found more than $100,000 worth of heroin taped around their stomachs.  The bust came Tuesday at the I-19 checkpoint, while agents were inspecting three commercial shuttles.  K-9 officers first detected the drugs.
The teens were turned over to the Santa Cruz County Sheriff's Office; the adult faces possible prosecution.
In the past few years, Border Patrol agents have seen an increase in young adults and teens attempting to smuggle humans and narcotics.
