Spacefest V returns to Earth (and Tucson) in May

Everything ‘spacy’ will be returning to the Tucson area May 24 – 27, so all space enthusiasts be aware. 

Spacefest V will return to the JW Starr Pass Resort (3800 W. Starr Pass Blvd), and will feature moonwalkers, astronauts, astronomers and planetary scientists during the four day event.

Wildfire burning 10 miles west of Nogales

TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now)- A wildfire broke out in Santa Cruz county on Sunday. 

The Southwest Coordination Center (SWCC) tweeted about the fire on Monday morning. 

The Juniper Fire is approximately 161 acres.

According to the SWCC, the fire is located 10 miles west of Nogales, AZ. 

SWCC says in a tweet, "Forward progress stopped on all sides as of this morning."

Cocaine bags bagged in Nogales

NOGALES, AZ (Tucson News Now) - A Mexican man is in custody following a failed attempt to smuggle 13 pounds of cocaine through the port of entry.

Customs officers say they inspected 33-year-old Jose Luis Gonzalez Murillo's Volkswagen when he attempted to enter the United States through the Mariposa Port.  Officers found five packages of cocaine in a pair of overnight bags.

The drugs, worth an estimated $118,000, and vehicle were processed for seizure.  Murillo was referred to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement's Homeland Security Investigations.
