Early Friday morning Border Patrol agents seized more than $1 million in marijuana from the desert west of Tucson.
According to BP agents they were responding to a call of possible smuggling activity in the desert near Ajo. Working with a CBP helicopter, agents on the ground searched the area and soon found an apparently abandoned Toyota Tundra. The vehicle had been hidden underneath a camouflage tarp and contained 90 bundles of marijuana, according to the BP agents.
There was no license plate on the truck, no registration and had been modified for cross-country travel and transporting heavy loads.
The bundles, worth more than $1.5 million were seized and turned over to the DEA. The truck was also seized by Border Patrol.
