Canine agent alerts to drugs smuggled inside vehicle transmission

Border Patrol arrested a man near the Dennis DeConcini Port after he attempted to smuggle cocaine and meth across the border into the U.S.

The man, later identified as Pilar Agustin Gaspar-Corrales, was arrested on Sunday after a canine unit alerted BP agents to potential drugs in his vehicle.  After a secondary check the agents found more than five pounds of cocaine and eight pounds of methamphetamine in the transmission of his truck.

The 13 pounds of drugs were valued at over $170,000.  Both the drugs and the vehicle were seized and Gaspar-Corrales was turned over to the Santa Cruz County Metro Task Force for prosecution.
