Border Patrol seizes dope from a false compartment | Crime
Agents with the Tucson Sector Border Patrol arrested a man after finding marijuana stashed in a hidden compartment.
The incident occurred on January 11, after Sonoita BP agents were asked for directions by a 21-year-old man who seemed lost. According to BP agents, they suspected the man might be involved in illegal activity based on things the man said. Agents then requested assistance from a canine unit, to back the suspicions.
After the canine unit arrived a thorough search of the truck was made. According to agents they found nearly 621 pounds of marijuana hidden inside a stack of 2’ x 4’ lumber, and covered in plywood. The estimated worth of the drugs was $310,500.
The drugs were turned over to the Drug Enforcement Administration and the smuggler faces possible prosecution.
