State Trails Committee is accepting applications for volunteers | News
Do you like to hike the trails found throughout Southern Arizona? Would you like to have a say in how trails are developed, promoted or preserved? Then this might just be the right opportunity for you.
The Arizona State Parks Board is accepting applications for volunteer advisor positions in the Arizona State Committee on Trails (ASCOT). These volunteers will help represent ASCOT’s interests and serve in an advisory capacity to the Arizona Outdoor Recreation Coordinating Commission (AORCC) and the Parks Board.
The overall objective of the State Trails Program is to promote, develop and preserve all non-motorized trails throughout the state for mountain bikers, hikers, equestrians and water trail users.
Volunteers are appointed to ASCOT for three year terms and at this time there are five slots open.
The Parks Board will make their final appointments at their December 5 meeting, with those chosen starting on January 1.
Applications will be accepted from now until August 17 at 5 p.m. If you are interested in being considered for a position in ASCOT you can download an application at http://AZStateParks.com/committees/ASCOT.html.
