Bundles of cash confiscated at border | News
NOGALES (Tucson News Now) - Two Mexican citizens are under arrest for a pair of cash smuggling incidents over the weekend. In all, U.S. Customs officers netted $242,700 in unreported U.S. currency coming through the Mariposa Port.
On Sunday, officers pulled over a Nissan SUV driven by a 24-year-old Mexican woman for additional inspection while she was leaving the U.S., and found two packages containing $29,300 in cash inside the gas tank.
On Monday, officers stopped a 37-year-old Mexican man for additional inspection and found $213,400 in cash hidden in 12 packages behind the vehicle's air conditioner control panel.
